turn  동사: 변하다/바뀌다 명사: 차례

 

1. 나이가 바뀔때 쓰는 'turn'

she is turning 50 this year.

I'm turning 35 this year. (생일전)

I turned 35 this year. (생일 후)

 

2. It's my turn. '차례'를 의미 하는 명사

 

3. turn around : (상황이) 호전되다.

- 동사: (경기/경제/상황이) 호전되다

- 명사: 붇어서 turnaround (호전, 직업완료 시간)

정말 상황이 안 좋을때 things will turn around, Things awill wourk out.

A: Things will turn around.

B: I hope so.

 

4. turn out  : (결과적으로) ~로 드러나다, (특정 방식으로) 진행되다.

~go: 진행, 상황/과정에 포커스

~turn: 결과에 포커스

ex) How did it go? it went well.

How did the big meeting turn out?

- How did it go? 진행 상황/과정에 포커스

- How did it turn out? 진행 결과에 포커스

 

~ turns out it was (perfect) for me.  그건 (완전) 내 취향이더라

~ turns out it wasn't for me. 그것 내 취향이 아니더라.

It's preseverance  that will turn a dream into a reality. 

 

5. turn into ~로 변하다/~가 되다.

It might turn into a great opportunity.

Ut turned into a nightmare.

I'll turn it into something new.

This is turning into a nightmare.

 

turn on<->turn off

turn on (동사)켜다, 흥분되게 하다

turn off (동사)끄다, 흥분된 마음이 싹 사라지게 하다

cf) 에어컨은 AC나 air 라고도 합니다.

Can you help me turn on the air?

I can turn off the air.

 

turn up<->turn down

turn up:키우다, (표면 위로 올라로듯) 나타나다/드러나다

turn up the heat It's cold. Turn up the heat.

turn down :줄이다, 거절하다.

I'd like to say thank you.

But I'm gonna have to turn your offer down.
