영어공부 59탄 (literally)

literally : 문자그대로, 그야말로, 정말로

* really 와 비슷하다고 생각하면 쉽게 접근할수 있어요.

1) (진짜 그 당어의 사전상 의미를 강조) 말 그대로, 정말로

영영 사전:  using the real or original meaning of a word or phrase

ex) Literally starving, They are literally starving.

I am literally shaking from this.

I have a dealine, literally.

 

2) 단순히 강조해서 말할때 '진짜,  정말'

영영사전:  used to emphasize what you are saying

- It literally took forever to finish this.

- I may be literally starving to death.

- This is literally the best coffee I've ever had.

-Literally the best thing I've ever eaten.

 

 

ex) I literally can't thank you enough.

I literally can't thank you enough for what you just did.

* I'm indebted to you forever. 

Well, you're very welcome.

I literally can't thank you enough for studying with me.

Trust me.

We literally have no extra money.

It's literally melting outside.
