영어공부 10 탄 (Capitalization #1~#13)

오늘은 우리 아이 7학년짜리가 ELA에서 배우는 문법을 정히 할려고 해요.

코로라 바이러스 때문에 홈스쿨 아닌 홈스쿨을 하다보니, 이런 유익한 자료가 있어 올려 봅니다.

Daily Edit #1~#13 New Unit- Capitalization

#1. Capitalize the first word in a sentence.

May I borrrow your pencil?

#2. Capitalize proper nouns, such as partieular names, places, and things.

My best friend Gabe is a great karate master.

#3. Caplitalize titles used with names and abbreviations.

Dr. Wright was responible for my fabulous orthodontic work.

#4. Capitalize major words in geographic names.

My family and I stayed at a cottage on Keuka lake.

#5. Capitalize names of sections of the state or country but not directions of compass.

To visit my cousins in the Midwest, we have to travel west to get to Ohio.

#6. Capitalize name of all the important words of organizations and institutions.

Mill Middle School studnents donated to the Make a Wish Foundation.

#7. Capitalize the names of historical event, documents, and periods of time

The Great Depression began in 1929.

#8.  Capitalize  the names of months, days, and hoildays.

Labor Day is a holiday that is celebrated on the first Monday in September.

#9. Capitalize the names of languages, races, religions and nationalities.

My favorite class is Spanish becasue my heritage is Mexican, and I enjoy learning about the culutre.

#10. Capitalize words that show family relationships.

The sentence should still make sense if family member is switched out for their actual name!

We saw Uncle Francis and Aunt Millie at the mall.

I'm telling Mom!

I'm telling your mom!

#11. Capitalize the names of streets and higways.

Ben lives on Palm Street, located just off Route 22.

#12. Do not capitalize the names of seasons.

My favorite season is fall, but I love summer activities.

#13. Capitalize the major words in title of television shows, movies, songs, books, newspapers, magazine, and poems.

Since Riverdale wasn't on last night, I watched Pocachontas and read The Buffalo News instead.
